Growth and a Fall/Winter Collection

Posted by Maru Harper on

It is our one year anniversary this month and the wealth of knowledge that we have experienced is simply amazing. Just as your babies have grown into toddlers, so has MoMa grown into a fast moving ever surprising and hugely enjoyable child. MoMa has entered its toddler stage, and we must be prepared for the changes that await us.

When we began, our playfulness sent us on an adventure of color and patterns, resulting in a most adorable selection of prints. From the apples, to the floral dinosaurs, and ending with the ever popular pineapples; with each order Monica and I would relish in which prints we could choose next. We developed relationships with the creators of these prints such as Laura May (@Laura_May_designs) whose prints include the pineapples, the jungle and the shadow palm.

We will continue using some of these prints as they truly reflect the playfulness of our company and the fun behind dressing our babies.

Then as we have been learning about fabrics and textiles, we discovered a plethora of options which opened an entire new world to us. Solids! And the range of tones and colors! More fun to be had and we have.

Our new Fall/Winter 2017 Collection (Click HERE) introduces new solid colors such as our gorgeous Dusty Rose, Deep Teal, greys and browns so in tune with the colors of autumn. But, also the use of  Bamboo and cotton brought us to soft gentle fabrics that are so easy to wear. The Bamboo and Cotton fibre blend is made into soft fleece, and french terry. We also have a cotton Jersey fabric that will no doubt be an every season staple.

So why Bamboo?

Some Benefits of Bamboo fabric:

  • Antibacterial - keeps you odor free and feeling and smelling fresh.
  • Highly sweat absorbent (Pulls moisture from skin for evaporation - moisture wicking) - keeps you dry.
  • Powerfully insulating - keeps you cooler in summer and warmer in winter.

New for Fall and Winter, is the introduction of a romper which is so easy to put on and take off thanks to its snap-free, pull on design. The Romper will be available in sizes 0-6 months up to 18-24 months. Our next new design is “The Little M” Dress, designed to grow a whole year with your little one, and can even be worn as a tunic styled top. The dress will be made in sizes 1 to 4 years. These 2 items will be available in mid-September so make sure you are following us on our social media @momababyapparel to stay up-to-date on all product launches.

Not only have we continued using our cotton but the addition of bamboo is just another way to ensure that our babies and toddlers enjoy their clothes.  The feel of these new fabrics is amazing; soft and silky beyond description. Can you imagine your baby in our practical, comfy and cozy designs made from buttery soft bamboo and cotton?

We are excited to announce that MoMa is available at some amazing retailers, if you check out our stockists page you can see where you can find MoMa. For those who are my age, grandmas and aunties, the word Stockist refers to the retailers that now carry our baby clothes. (That is an entire subject worthy of its own blog on what Maru has learned from MoMa).

Find us at: Humble Pie Boutique in Cordova Bay, Pueo Boutique in Kona, Hawaii, and Ten Modern Penguins in Vancouver are now carrying our line of Spurts. Click HERE for more information on our Stockists.

It has been a great and wonderful year. Has it been hard? We have never worked harder in our lives! And if a new partnership in business has growing pains, well imagine a mother and daughter partnership. The blessing is that at the end of the day we both come to the conclusion that MoMa is about love.

What was started for Howard, continues for the beautiful and wonderful babies, their mothers and many wonderful grandmothers who have supported us and continue to do so.

Prints, or solids our clothes are a result of your feedback. We would love to hear from you and what prints have been your favourites, and what you think of our new collection.
